Rituals - Immersive Installation at Triptych Bankside, London (2023)

I was invited to take over the ground floor of the newly completed Triptych Bankside development in London’s Bankside, directly opposite the Tate Modern, to create a large-scale immersive installation. The project offered an amazing opportunity to bring together several strands of my work including animation, installation and live performance, to transform the interior of this empty unit into an experiential artwork responding to the relationship between people and the built environment.

At the centre of the installation is the idea of rituals - the repeated actions, routines and behaviours that help us find structure, meaning and familiarity within the unpredictability of daily life.

From the simple act of visiting a favourite café, to familiar journeys through the city, these small rituals anchor us to place and create a sense of continuity. They shape how we move through urban environments and how we form emotional connections to them.

In the same way that places shape our identity, our rituals shape how we experience those places. The two are inseparable, constantly informing one another as we navigate the changing rhythms of the city.
