Morley Market

West Yorkshire UK, 2021

Commissioned by the mayoress of Morley and Leeds City Council to create a mural along the side of this bustling and popular market in the centre of town, I wanted to create something bright and uplifting for people in the area, transforming the previously magnolia walls, whilst retaining and working with the beautiful existing tiles.

The market town of Morley lies approximately 5 miles south-west of Leeds city centre in West Yorkshire, England. A market town and a civil parish, Morley forms part of the Heavy Woollen District. It has another claim to historical fame and that it is built on seven hills like Rome (and Sheffield!)

Old industrial buildings from the textile, coal and quarrying industries sit next to new developments and the rolling hills of a market town. The mural created on the side of the town centre market reflects this, creating something meaningful for those that see it. Respecting the past whilst facing the future.
