Wilton Way Estate, Hackney

London UK (2019)

Wilton Estate is a 1950s low rise estate in the heart of London Fields. Part of the wave of social housing in the post war period, it was designed by architects Norman and Dawbarn. The Wilton Estate showed characteristic Scandinavian and Festival of Britain features, notably in it cantilevered cast concrete projecting balconies, coloured facing panels and careful landscaping. It has an active residents association, and is a mixture of public housing and private leaseholders.

Commissioned by the Wilton Way resident’s association, this mural was created to celebrate the Estate and the area.
