Red Market London

Showing on the 5th of May at the Red Gallery’s 3rd birthday will be Jo Peel’s latest animation, Pipe Dreams. The largest mural in the UK to be painted by an individual artist, the animation was made using a 5 story building, a shipping container and a double decker bus as a canvas.

Dog Stadium Series

The first two paintings in the current series documenting dog tracks of the UK. The Owlerton Stadium, based in Sheffield. This painting is available from the Porter Brook Gallery in Sheffield this weekend with more details on their website here.

And Walthamstow stadium, caught before it’s proposed demolition, will be available at the Urban Barrier group show this weekend at No Format Gallery in London. Private view Friday 7^th December.

Hagglers Corner, Sheffield

The lovely people at Hagglers Corner offered a selection of their walls to make some new animations (more details on these coming soon). So to say thank you, Jo created a mural for them, which shows off the variety of businesses and studios within their walls.

Located on Queen’s road in and with a very lovely (warm) café! Thanks all at Hagglers for looking after the team!

Pitfield Collaborative exhibition

For this exhibition Jo transformed the gallery space with a huge illustration of the Pitfield building as a black and white mural on the rear wall. Fusing shop and gallery space, a drawing of Trellick Tower is expanded on striking monochrome wallpaper and used on curved lampshades in heavy dupion silk.

For an injection of colour, luxurious square cushions are available. Three limited edition designs have been created, featuring Pitfield London’s exterior, Brick Lane’s Beigel Bake and the Tea Building on Shoreditch High Street. Pitfield London

Athens

Invited out to Greece in a collaborative project, which will eventually culminate in Greek artist Vasilis coming over to London to decorate our city. It might take a while though, as he doesn’t like the cold! Here is an example of some of the work he has done in Athens.

Travelling with photographer Karina Lax I painted beneath the shadow of the Acropolis and Karina made a documentary of the stay, which will be shared soon. Thanks to Vasilis and all of his lovely friends for making us feel so welcome!

Goldsmiths Row

A mural created on the old Children’s Hospital on Goldsmiths Row in Hackney and commissioned by Camden based architects HTA after a series of workshops with the local community.

The mural is the result of a discussion with the residents of the local area and references themes of transition and change, whilst paying homage to some of the more authentic businesses of the local area, such as E-Pellicci restaurant on Bethnal Green road, a family run business since 1900 and one of my favourite café’s in London.

Bunch Of Fives by the Designers Republic

Asked by Ian Anderson of the Designers Republic to contribute to a new book they were producing to celebrate the fifth birthday of super Sheffield based Evolution Print. It also coincided with the 25th birthday of TDR™.

I was asked the question “What does five mean to you” and when I think about numbers, I tend to get all serious and think of the way that people try to organise society with numerical restrictions and categories, in particular the 5 day working week and the classic 9-5 analogies… So I drew a picture of my Boot Street London studio.

Charity Auction at Village Underground

Asked to show at this street art exhibition and auction in aid of Anti-Slavery International supported by Opera Gallery and Moniker Projects. We raised a collaborative £27,000 for charity and this is my painting sold on the night.
